Best Hair Growth Diets

A healthy eating pattern is key to not only fighting hair loss but for also deflating high blood pressure. In the past we've praised diets such as Paleo and Okinawa for their low inflammatory effects. This year brings the addition of two new diets that target lowering blood pressure, boosting immunity and promoting alkalinity. The best hair growth diets are the Dash and Mediterranean.

DASH:

Preventing and lowering high blood pressure. (hypertension)

The theory: Nutrients like potassium, calcium, protein and fiber are crucial to fending off or fighting high blood pressure. You don't have to track each one, though. Just emphasize the foods you've always been told to eat (fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein and low-fat dairy), while shunning those we've grown to love (calorie- and fat-laden sweets and red meat). Top it all off by cutting back on salt, and you have the DASH diet.

MEDITERRANEAN:

May include weight loss, heart and brain health, cancer prevention, and diabetes prevention and control.

The theory: It's generally accepted that the folks in countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea live longer and suffer less than most Americans from cancer and cardiovascular ailments. The not-so-surprising secret is an active lifestyle, weight control, and a diet low in red meat, sugar and saturated fat and high in produce, nuts and other healthful foods. There's a lot to consider when changing or adjusting your diet and the questions are endless. Right now, you may have no idea what will or won't work for you.  We're not going to tell you what diet you should be on, but hopefully this can lead you in the right direction.
