Things That Can Lead To Hair Thinning

If you've been shedding more than usual lately, chances are your daily habits could be playing a major role.  What we eat or how we style our hair ultimately affect the strength of hair fibers. Getting it back thicker usually just takes a few steps or simple tweaks. Here are the top hair thinning offenders...and how to rid them from your routine.

Washing your hair once per week

This is not good for your hair!  A buildup of product or excessive dandruff on the scalp has been shown to clog hair follicles.  Due to this hair growth can be very difficult.  Popular items like dry shampoo for example is becoming one of the most popular types of shampoos due to limited washing of hair.  But for anyone dealing with thinning hair this can be a major culprit.
Make sure you're washing your hair if not everyday at least every other day.  To prevent dryness, switch to a sulfate-free shampoo like Bioscalp #1 Stem Cell Shampoo.

Certain Medications

Taking certain medications (anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, anti-hypertensive medications) or hormones (thyroid replacement) can cause hair loss or thinning.  These types of drugs can interfere with the the hair-growth cycle and may cause your hair to go into a resting phase (telogen phase) and fall out prematurely.
Talk with your doctor about alternative medications that don't have side effects or hair loss.

Women taking birth control pills

If you are one of the millions of women that are sensitive to hair thinning or shedding due to hormonal changes, the wrong prescribed birth control pill can cause even more of a problem.  Most birth control medication contains androgens that can cause hair loss.  Have your doctor run a quick cheek-swab genetic test. Switch to a low androgen pill and your hair thinning will stop or at least slow down.
